The Nook - Coorie Doon Stays

Cancelled by host, 6 days before arrival Negative: Extremely disappointing cancellation 6 days before arrival. We booked this accommodation well in advance on 4 January, for a stay from 2–6 September,. On 17 August, 10 days before our planned arrival, we contacted the property to ask about parking and received a response from the host. At no point were we advised that there was any issue with our booking or that the property was going to be unavailable. Then, on 27 August — just 6 days before we were due to arrive — our confirmed booking was cancelled by the host, with the explanation that the property was unavailable due to “planned maintenance”. The lack of notice was extremely disappointing. We appreciate that circumstances can change and that genuine unforeseen problems can occur. However, “planned maintenance” does not explain why a booking made eight months in advance was allowed to remain confirmed until just six days before arrival, particularly when the host had communicated with us only 10 days earlier. This caused unnecessary stress and disruption to our plans. We cannot comment on the quality of the accommodation itself because we were never given the opportunity to stay there. This review is entirely about the handling of our booking and the extremely late cancellation. Based on our experience, we would be very reluctant to make another advance booking with this property.
